New Year News from Yearle |
Thank goodness January is over!!
As you can imagine the weather has dominated our lives for weeks now. We had about 2 foot of level snow and our steading suffered great damage with buildings collapsing under the sheer weight of snow. The photo shows our neighbours sheep shed - amazingly there were very few fatalities. The sows were much happier in the deep snow rather than the mud they had been enduring for weeks previously. I did have 2 sows abort which I completely put down to the prolonged wet spell in December and then deep snow in January. As a result a now have a gap in my farrowing pattern - no piglets will be born in March - which is a nuisance as my order book is filling up! I will be able to announce May course dates in about 2 weeks time. |
